It's Been a While...

It's been ages since I've seen you all (no, really). I guess I didn't stop for any specific reason, and I'm sorry for not letting you know. I think because I just had loads of exams, I just forgot this was here and too embarrassed to carry on. I did create a blog on Wordpress and created an account on Tumblr, but they never really went well.

I guess I just want to make a fresh start, so I'm gonna change the name of my blog (the URL won't change), maybe to tie-in with my new interests. Two big words:

They aren't exactly big, but they mean a lot to me. I'll probably change it to Otaku-chan or something.

New interests:

  • Asian Movies
  • Anime & Manga
  • J-pop (I still like K-pop though)
  • Horror/Thriller books and films (My fave novels right now are Battle Royale and Carrie)
Upcoming posts:

  • Bleak Night review (Korean movie)
  • Funuke: Show Some Love You Losers! review (Japanese movie)
  • Death Note LAAF review (the first two)
  • Hetalia Axis Powers & World Series review (Anime)
  • The Art of the Fandom article/discussion
  • NEO Mag
  • Judge review (manga)

Current "Stuff"

Helllllooooooooooo! I haven't been here for ages now! Mainly because I was going to do a post about my trip to Amsterdam, but I tried to put them onto the computer, but it was suborn and wouldn't put them on my computer! Arghhh! So, I haven't been posting much (actually, nothing at all!)

The headphones for the computer are also ruined.

Cath Kidston - New Season

Cath Kidston are turning 20, and that also means the beginning of another season. Which I'm also about to show you!

They're also one of my favourite humble and nostalgic vintage shops. But I must admit that the prices are a little high, but the quality is outstanding and I wouldn't mind paying a little bit more.

Shirt: £30.00
The big white dots on a red background are brilliant! It's just so sweet 'n' simple to wear. Personally I would wear it with invisible tights and with plimsolls.

Skirt (left): £40.00
Skirt (right): £35.00
The mushroom is just so cute! I think the length is just right for these skirts and you must buy them!! (Mushroom dress also available.)

Dress: £65.00

I've heard that this dress is pretty durable. It's not as cute as the mushroom skirt and dress, but I've been drawn close to the pattern. Available in two colours.

I'll tell you about my holiday another time soon!

United Kingdom - 58 stores
China - 5 stores
France - 1 store
Ireland - 2 stores

Vintage/Retro Fashion in Kpop

Hello everyone! I'm here today on behalf of Lucy, who's on holiday ~ she asked me to write a guest post for her, and I gratefully accepted since it was so kind of her to think of me. I hope you're having a good time Lucy, your blog is in safe hands don't worry! ^-^

She said I could write about whatever I wanted, so it took me a little while to come up with something. Now, I've been following Lucy for quite a while now and regularly read her posts. I already knew she was a fan of Korean culture and Kpop like myself, but one thing I noticed was that Lucy seems to be drawn to vintage and retro styles when it comes to fashion (Am I right Lucy? I'm just making assumptions based on your posts here!). Being a fashion blogger myself I decided to combine two things that Lucy likes into one post, I hope you all enjoy reading this and be sure to leave lots of comments for Lucy and I!

2NE1's Minzy and CL for Elle
I really love CL's tailored trousers in this picture, paired with the white top and jacket the outfit looks really flattering and sophisticated. On the other hand Minzy's look is reminiscent of a school girl uniform from the past, I think the knee high socks totally add to this feel.

2NE1's Park Bom and Dara for Elle
Dara's hair is particularly gorgeous in this whimsical photoshoot, it reminds me of the kind of hairstyle women might wear around the 1930s/40s. The outfits of both the girls here are really nice, even though Bom is just wearing a plain red shift dress, the contrast with the background and with Dara is very appealing and pretty.

Lee Hyori for Cosmopolitan
Solo singer Lee Hyori clearly gives off a retro feeling with this outfit and hair. Even the makeup is mimicking the perfect pin up style from around the 50s , this is apparent from the cat eyed eyeliner and red lips. I personally really like this look, I can imagine similar images on inspirational wartime posters.

Secret in their MV for 'Shy Boy'
Moving on a little, the knee length skirts and matching ribbons are definitely giving a vintage feel, the girls' rolled hair is also adding to it. However, my favourite part of this picture are the lace socks and shoes combination. It's so cute and the Mary Jane style heels totally fit with the concept.

Girl's Generation 'Dancing Queen' performance
Finally my favourite girl group at the moment, Girl's Generation. This is during a performance for Dancing Queen, and although the outfits in the music video also have a similar feel alongside the old style American diner set - I liked these outfits a little more. The shoes and socks are really pretty, and I like all the girls' shirts, I think Tiffany looks especially good here.

It's What They Wore in the 80s

Hey! How y'all doing? Hope y'all alright.

Taking inspiration from one of my favourite films, Sunny, I thought I'd do a post on the fashion. Click me to see my review. The film is set in the present day and obviously the 80s, but I just wanted to focus on the 80s side of things.

The adult Chun-hwa and the
teenage Chun-wha
From left to right:
Su-ji, Jang-mi, Jin-hee, Na-mi, Chun-hwa, Geum-ok
and Bok-hee

I also need to tell you that it's my birthday coming up in September and I've asked for another Korean film and this time, it's top of my list. And it's also a priority. I've also asked for a new camera because my current camera is on the edge of dying, nearly.

I've also only just realised that I own the Director's Cut of this film - which is awesome right now.

By the way, I'm actually writing this, right now, on the 23rd of June, as part of planned posts, to keep you happy while I go on holiday.

Have a nice day,

I Don't Want September to Come

The Bell Jar

I want to do some blogging, but I can't think of anything to blog about.

I bought some notebooks today, but I can't think of what to write in them.

I've got the news in the background, but there's nothing exciting going on.

I've got two films to watch, should I watch them before I go on holiday to Amsterdam?

The holidays are great, but I don't want them to end.

My dog is cute, but annoying.

I'm going to watch the last episode.

Peace Out

I've a surprise in store for you on the 11th, on Saturday!

Cooling Off

Hey guys! (Why do I start every single post saying that phrase??!)

It's been hot. Really hot. When the weather is like this, I like to cool off in the garden. Because we've got a water butt, me and my family can water the plants and pretty do what we please with water. I like to cool down with water, so I splash it all over to cool me off.

Moving on, there's a stray rabbit running loose on the school field which people walk past to get to the next streets. I was walking past there with my dog, and we saw it.

I'm sorry about the red-eye, I tried all the applications to get rid of it but it just wouldn't. I'm sorry!!

I'm going to my grandparent's place for a bit, so I won't be here!

All for now

Console versus Console

You may not know this about me, but I have a Nintendo DSi (XL) and I'm a pretty keen gamer when it comes to that stuff. Usually, I play Nintendogs regularly on a daily basis, now that we're all on our summer holidays. But recently, I've been having a gamer dilemma.

For a while, I've been contemplating for a while, whether to purchase a 3DS XL. I'm one of those people who don't really care for 3D, except in films, but I have been told that you can turn the 3D effect down or off all together.  And if I do choose to purchase a 3DS, I can still play my regular DS games on it. To add to that, the 3DS games are graphically better and that also means that I can play Nintendogs and Cats.

Korean version

I'm really sorry if you were expecting something else, but please hang around because I have got other posts in store for you in the upcoming days.

Again I'm sorry. What do you think I should do?

Peace Out

This is Why We All Want to Learn Korean

Long time, no see! I hope you're all alright. It's long overdue that I do a fashion post-and here it is. Alright, so today I've decided to go for Korean fashion, but from Korean magazines. The pictures are from hours of browsing on Pinterest. Enjoy!

Girls' Generation's Jessica//
Vogue Girl Korea//
June 2013

I really like this outfit, the street-wise style and the attitude. The only thing that I'd change the trainers for maybe high-tops or baseball boots. I do like Girls' Generation, but they're not my favourite.

Nana and UEE//
Vogue Girl Korea

I think this is one of my favourites. I just love the casual style while being "all dressed up" but without looking too over the top.

I actually love the simplicity and style combination in this. II also have to add, that the execution of the actual photograph its self is actually done quite well.

Vogue Korea

This one is awesome! It's not what you'd really expect me to find, just from looking at the other photographs. I love her sleek black hair. :P

That's all from me

I'm Procrastinating, All Day I Sit Here Waiting

No fashion posts-sorry! It's been too you know, hot to do anything. Even write. Or that's me just procrastinating and being lazy. I will try and do something with my life in these upcoming days.

Here is a photo for your amusement:

Why is there a picture of something is just so random and so stupid? I don't know, I just found it on Pinterest a few days ago.  Wow, my sarcasm levels have dropped (they're normally around 80% per day).

My sarcasm levels have dropped-I'm DOOMED

See you later

P.S I apologise.

We'd Dance All Night

Hi guys! How are you all today? Where I am, the weather has kind of dropped to rain, which is good because it's not too hot.

Recently, during this month, I've been pretty lazy with Post Crossing and reading. I mean, reading-wise, I haven't been able to find anything that I actually want to read. And Post Crossing-wise, I'm just running out of postcards.

I'll be going on holiday in August and I don't want to leave you bored for five days, so I've planned some posts for you.

I need to ask you a favour. I've been running out of inspiration for blog posts. Please let me know what you'd like to me t do for blog posts in the comment section.

Peace Out

First World Problems

Hey guys!

After singing this and watching this about a million times, I've realised that even in the first world, we have problems that really annoy us.

Anyway, hope you enjoy this.

See you tomorrow!

We Used to Live in the 80s

I've never lived in the 80s. Oh... hey guys! Hope you are all alright!

Today was the last day of school! Now I can sit back and relax... for now.

This year has been a really good year. I know myself better now, and of course I've started this creation! Next year, is going to be one of the most important years of my days. It's going to be emotional and just simply a roller coaster of changes.

Anyway, we finally get to the point of the title. Today, as part of our celebrations for the end of school, we had a karaoke on the Play Station. We sung 80s songs. You're gonna laugh...

We sung this about fifteen times! Seriously!

School's Out for Summer!

I'll see you later!

Peace Out

An Adventure

Hey guys? How you all doing?

I'm sorry I didn't write a post a few days ago, it's been really busy at school with the Summer Holidays coming to a start and there's a situation going on at school also.

There's that I can really talk about, but I can say that including this post, I've only literally done seven posts so far this month. I don't think that's particularly a bad thing, so maybe I need to come up with a few more ideas.

Anyway, I wanted to talk about the upcoming Summer holidays. I expect that it's going to be a mix of boring and exciting. I also expect that it's going to be a little different from maybe the previous years. I will certainly keep you updated!

School is ALMOST out
So, sorry that was a short post.

Peace Out

Dancing in the Sun

Hello internet! Long time, no see! Sorry I haven't been blogging recently, I just got wrapped up in other things and totally forgot that I had a blog! But I am pretty tired... *__*

I watched Sunny again. I still think Chun-hwa is a protagonist.

I'm also planning to watch "Monkey" the television series, my parents highly recommend this to me, because I laugh at almost anything!! :)

I've noticed that I haven't been commenting on blogs I follow this month, I don't know why. If I have the time, I'll try to comment!!

Also I'm not good at French. I don't like it either!! *___* It is just so hard to learn! Spanish and Italian are so EASY! (How did this conversation even come to be???) Or Swedish? (That's supposed to be easy!)

So, another post tomorrow?

Peace Out

It's A Sunny Day!

Hello! Welcome to a Asian film review! I have intended to do other film reviews, but this one had to be the first one I had to do. So, I am reviewing is the 2011 South Korean film...

Theatrical Poster

Packaging, Price and Postage:

I ordered it from here; an Australian Asian movie store. As you would guess, I live a long, long way from Australia, so the postage would have taken a while.

The package that I got in looked a bit like this:

The package was pre-paid for, which was awesome! I'm not too sure when it was sent, because there is no date on the customs form, Identification recorded sticker or the stamp.

When I opened the package, it looked a bit like this:

The actual film cover for the DVD

Surprisingly, the film didn't come with any bill, which I don't really mind!!

The back
Moving on, the site does have a lot of bargains. Please bear in mind that at the time I did get a discount. From my memory it was about:

$19 (Australian dollars) or £11.56 (Great British Pound)

The Film

The Plot

New high-school transfer student Na-Mi (Shim Eun-Kyung) comes from a small town in Jeolla Province to her new school in the capital city of Seoul. When she is nervous, her small town dialect comes out & she starts to shake. On her first day at her new school she is bullied by others. Coming to her help is a group of girls. The girls are Chun-Hwa (Kang So-Ra) - known for her strong sense of loyalty & excellant fighting skills, heavyset Jang-Mi (Kim Min-Young) - who badly wishes to have plastic surgery to get double eye-lids, Jin-Hee (Park Jin-Joo) - excellent when it comes to spewing profanity, Geum-Ok (Nam Bo-Ra) - interested in literature, Bok-Hee (Kim Bo-Mi) - dreams of one day becoming Ms. Korea and Su-Ji (Min Hyo-Rin) - always arrogant. Na-Mi quickly becomes part of their group. When the group confronts rival girls known as Sonyeo Sidae ("Girls Generation"), Na-Mi spews curse words she picked up from her grandmother. Because of Na-Mi the girls are able to avoid a crisis. These seven girls then form their own group named "Sunny". They also vow to stay together forever. The girls then prepare for a performance at an upcoming school festival, but on the day of their performance a terrible event occurs leading the girls to eventually going their own separate ways.

Twenty five years later, Na-Mi (Yoo Ho-Jeong) is married to a successful businessman and has a beautiful daughter. Her life seems perfect from afar, but there's something lacking in her life. One day, Na-Mi bumps into high school friend Chun-Hwa (Jin Hee-Kyung) in the hospital. They are ecstatic to see each other, but Na-Mi receives a phone call and has to leave. On her way out she ask Chun-Hwa if there is anything she can do for her. Chun-Hwa at first says no, but after a moment of reflection she makes a simple request to Na-Mi. Chun-Hwa asks Na-Mi to find the other members of "Sunny," so she can see them one more time ...

My Thoughts

This film just blew my mind! I wasn't as bad as I expected, which is a good thing! Throughout the film, it had a roller coaster of emotions which actually suprised me. I really liked the way it switched from the present day to the 1980s and vice versa.

The characters were very interesting ones, but I'm not going to talk about that too much in case I give away the story. If you would like to have a chat about this movie, please feel free to contact me via the form on the "Contact" page above.

It was also full of those very awkward teenager moments that are embarrassing, emotional and stupid!

It was basically one of those "feel good" film which you just watch over and over again.

My favourite character was Chun-hwa because she was one of those "rebel-like" people and she was just very strong and tough, and she was just the protagonist of her life and the members' lives.

If you don't particularly like spoilers, I don't recommend reading this!!

Su-ji hates Na-mi. And that's the way it stays for a while.... until the two of them finally go to get something to eat together... and get drunk. And have a complete emotional breakdown.

***SPOILER END***

From the film
I just can't express how much I love this film!!

If you want to watch this film, I'd recommend having tissue boxes around...

5 out of 5

Peace Out

"This Book Isn't A Book"

I've created a Good Reads account. It's official. I wanted a place where I could do book reviews in a place other than my blog.

So yeah! Get reading!

[Hope mum finds this... somehow...]

Romeo and Juliet

Internet, I am back. No, seriously. I'm back. I'm sorry that I've not uploaded any photos recently. My camera has run out of battery. (Dad, please find my camera and charge up the batteries - please.)

Before you ask, I'm not going to go on about Romeo and Juliet because it was something that randomly popped in my head last night while I was looking at my book case last night and I decided to call this post "Romeo and Juliet".

After school, I found out I'd been invited to a VIP Reader meeting on Tuesday from eight am until the end of lunch. My friends William, Jack M, Rebecca and Nia will be coming as well, so I'm pretty excited about it!!

Peace Out

Are We Human?

Hello internet, it's me. Hope you're having an awesome time! Just to let you know, I've been tagged by two people and I'll be publishing the post in the next few days or so.

Anyway, I've got a secret mission to be thinking about. It is secret between a few people and me, so it's secret alright! But, you'll find out in August!

Nine Muses have comeback with their flawless new single, which gets even better each time I listen to it, "Wild".

I'm not really familiar with the Nine Muses and I've only heard the one song. I will try and listen to more of their singles, especially the "big hits"!.

Wild - by Nine Muses

So here it is with lyrics...

This is very intriguing...

Peace Out

The Common People

SKY: I took this picture myself
Hello! It's my first post of July. I can't believe that it's July already, and then it's two months to my birthday.

I've only just realised that on June and April, I've done exactly the same number of posts. I only just noticed that last night!

I'm going to plead my dad to buy me that book and the two films. If you don't know what I'm talking about, click here and here

I hope you enjoyed the movie trailer and part one of "Lost in Austen". I actually quite liked "Lost in Austen". I plan to see it in the future to find out what happens.

Anyway, days are dawning near the summer holidays and we're all getting exited for a summer of fun. At the start of the holidays, it's the most exiting thing. But, when we get used to life without school, we hate to say it, but it we start to get bored. That's my summer holidays every year before this one because I plan to do more things this year. Maybe read and watch a lot more films than I have before. I need to set a goal on how may books and films I need to watch or read. What are you planning to do?

I'll probably edit this post at some point, so beware for changes!

Just A Sunday Off

Against the Brick Wall

Half and Half

Caught in the Wind

Feet: My Feet
Sundays are normally the most boring days of the week. This one was typical also. Perhaps that's just whats going on in my mind. So, before I go to Amsterdam, I promised myself that I would read The Diary of Anne Frank again before and maybe there. The reason for that is we plan to go to the Anne Frank House. As well as the book, I want to see the two mini-series. Which can be found here

When I was watching Sanne's videos, (well one of them) and she mentioned a
mini-series called Lost in Austen. You can watch the first episode here:

Paper Planes and Playground Games

The days have been busy, passing by like a flash of lightening. The people seem to come and go and nothing seems real. Mixed feelings; end of school. And the secret will survive.

I've been taking pictures-not just inside the dullest walls, but outside, in the big, big, big wide world.

Behind Bars
From the edge of town...

A letter
...many adventures take you to new places...

Swinging in the Sky
... may the sky take you to a new place...

Jack-it's me.
I have something to tell you.
 ... secrets will be revealed...

Peeping through
... let imagination run wild
Dancing in the Rain
... dreams will be for filled ...
The Path - Nothing Interesting
... give things a purpose...

Bare Concrete
... I don't edit...
The Rise and Fall: Bag-£2.99, Home
... history is always in fashion...

This keeps my MP3 alive
... don't hide in the dark...

... our lives are different...

... and so are we...

Dreams and doodles
... we wish to lead different lives...

In the Garden
... finally, we will succeed.
